How to Start a Day Care Business
« Result #1 on Dec 13, 2009, 5:53am »
[Quote]

There is always a need for a day care facility. Instances with double income families where both parents hold office jobs and would rather send their child to a facility where the time they’re away can be put to learning and be exposed rather than with a babysitter at home. Single mothers and divorcees also have the need for daycare services. Without a spouse or nearby family to help, they need a facility to watch their child while they’re at work.

A good place to start would be in a neighborhood, close to a main street with a side road without that much traffic up the front side of the facility. If your home is large enough to accommodate a good number of children, this may prove to be beneficial for you. You have the opportunity to watch and take care of your own children as well as the others. You have to check with some state laws which have some regulations that you must put because your business entails the care of entrusted children. Some places also require that for a number of children you may need an in-house nurse for medical emergencies.

Initially you will be offering the basic babysitting services when you start out, as you get comfortable and familiar with this and getting used to the children in your home and around the backyard you can then expand your business into a full day care center. There are instances wherein companies where the parents work offer as a benefit, a child care facility. The companies usually finance this and locate them close to the office. A study has been made though that most parents chose to have their children close to home rather than the office. So you shouldn’t be much worried about competition from the company owned day care facilities.

Operating a day care business is not easy. You will need to be patient with children under your care. Some of the children may be used to a lot of different methods of teaching. Every household has a different environment from the next, it’s your task to try to put everything in sync and apply your standard or teachings to the whole group. This of course has to be discussed with the parents and be agreed upon the rules, regulations and teachings of your facility. If they are in conformity, then you are past your first hurdle.

We just mentioned that some children grow up in a different environment from the next child. To add to that, each child may have a particular behavioral pattern. You must take particular attention of this. Each may have a different eating and sleeping habit, this may cause them not to be together with the rest of the group. Sleeping areas should be clean and the toys must be safe to play with. Careful selection of toys must be addressed. Though some may be safe by themselves, a combination of two or more in the same area may be a cause for accidents.

The Nature Of A Daycare Center Business
« Result #3 on Dec 10, 2009, 5:08am »

With the rise of both parents working in the family, the need for day care centers is a major concern. Obtaining a good day care center that offers first rate care and service for children under the age of five is now on the list of busy parent’s priorities. Due to the increasing need for such kind of services, the industry of a day care center has been booming in the last decade.

There are different kinds of arrangements for day care services. Child care needs could be met in several ways. In-house child care, child care center care, or care in a provider’s house is the most common we can see today. Not only toddlers or preschoolers are catered by day care centers. Older children may also receive these services usually through a program called a before-and after- school care service.

In general, the day care service industry can be categorized into two main types. Preschools, Head Start Centers, and Child Care Centers are known as the Center-based care. They are usually more formal than the Family child care category in the sense of the location where the children are cared for. Center-based care centers usually have their own establishments or buildings used only for the specific purpose of a care center. On the other hand, family child care providers can provide care for the kids in the comfort of a home.

Aside from the center-based care and family child care categories, the day care center industry can also be categorized as either “For-profit” or “Nonprofit”. The for-profit day care industries are centers that independently operate or could also be a part of a local company. On the other side of the coin, Nonprofit organizations are usually religious instructions providing services for free or sometimes at a very minimal amount or a donation. Examples of nonprofit day care centers are YMCA, YWCA, social centers, colleges, public schools, government institutions, worksites, and social service agencies. The Head Start, a federally funded child care program designed for less privileged children is another example of the nonprofit category. Head Start programs provide both social and educational services; and for some, health services as well. For some employers, usually big companies, they offer child care benefits to employees who have kids. This idea came after the recognition that sometimes, the unmet need for a day care service could be a barrier to the employment of qualified parent employees. Some of these employers opt to having a day care service right in the workplace, or near it. Others simply provide financial assistance for parents to get their kids to a good day care center. Other option employers cling to are discounts and vouchers for child day care centers that they recommend or are in business with. Still others offer their employees dependent-care option plans which are flexible.

The day care center business, no matter what kind of service they offer, has rapidly increased to meet the needs for child care services and the want for home based jobs. It is one of the world’s most increasing industry and known to be profitable as well.

What Is Ergonomics And How Does It Affect Business
« Result #4 on Dec 9, 2009, 8:13pm »
[Quote]

The word "ergonomics" has been around a lot of office building these days, yet the cleaning industry have not yet addressed the matter. By understanding ergonomics and using ergonomically designed products and procedures in your cleaning business can prevent accidents and help your employees work better and more efficiently.

Statistics show that of all kinds of labor in America, a cleaning crew is the fifth most likely person to be injured while working. In the janitorial industry, most of the injuries are of the muscle and joint pain and other related injuries. These can be caused by constant, strenuous activity placed on the cleaning workers. Problems may also occur while workers use awkward posture and positions that are kept for long periods of time. Activities such as rinsing of mops, washing down walls and floors and lifting of heavy trash containers can strain the neck, shoulders, back and wrists. And since much of the work is repetitive, the employees’ problem then intensifies.

Ergonomic products are specifically designed to fit the worker rather than having the worker fit to the equipment. Using ergonomic products has the objective of reducing stress on the workers. Moreover, utilizing ergonomic products and performing cleaning jobs properly can lessen injuries.

By combining ergonomic equipment and cleaning techniques into your business procedures, you’d be helping workers prevent injuries and increase their productivity.

To find ergonomic products and equipment, keep these in mind;

1. When buying vacuum cleaner, be sure that the handle is comfortable to grip and conforms to the user’s hand. It should also be lightweight. Vacuuming will be easier and stress reduced if it is brush assisted. The vacuums’ vibration is also on big risk factor as it affects the arms and wrist. Get vacuum with large wheels as it help cut down on vibrations.

2. Look for quieter operating machines when buying floor machines and vacuums are noise can also cause fatigue and drop in productivity.

3. Choose lightweight buckets and mops. Try using microfiber flat mops as they are easier to handle than the usual string mops.

4. Look for sprayers with ergonomically designed handles which fit well into a user’s hand. Handling is also improved with textured grips.

Workers should also be trained to perform their jobs properly to help minimize injuries. Here are a few key concepts that you can include into your training program:

1. Workers should move their feet from side to side to reduce upper body strain when mopping.

2. When cleaning, cleaners should stand upright and practice looking up rather than keep looking at the surface their cleaning. By looking up, they will be stretching their neck. Breaks at regular intervals are recommended for workers too.

3. Workers should bend their knees not their backs.

4. When handling tools and equipment, a relaxed grip is advised to reduce hand and wrist strain.

5. Use carts to transfer heavy trash, bags should be lifted and placed into dumpsters and not tossed to thrown.

The whole of cleaning industry has be quite slow to improve on the ergonomics of cleaning equipments as well as training their workers. Many businesses that have started to introduce ergonomics into their business procedures will have the upper hand over other cleaning businesses. By making simple adjustments in purchasing and training, your employees will be more productive and will be contributing a lot to the success of your business.

Ways of Advertising Your Daycare Center

You have a proper day care center area and building, you have a cute name for it, you were granted a license to operate, and you have bought all the necessary equipment pieces. You seem to be all set up to start your day care center except for one important thing; you do not have any customers yet. It is time to spread the word around. This is one of the fun parts of starting your business. Advertising must be the easiest part compared to all the other steps you went through. The question is, with a budget on mind, what are ways of advertising your day care center?

Advertise online. The World Wide Web offers a lot of opportunity to post an advertisement either for free or for a small amount. Big sites like Craig's list can give you a little push in making your day care center publicized. This website gets thousands of visitors a day. Chance is your advertisement can be read by many. There can be websites catering for your specific area as well. Get in touch and inquire. Most likely, they would ask for a fee but don't fret, it won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Are you very good at writing or blogging? Make a blog about your day care center. Blogging services like blogger.com, wordpress.com and squidoo.com are absolutely free. Bring out the creative side in you. Post pictures of your center, your own picture, or a picture of other care providers who would be working with you. Give a good description of your site and write a warm welcome post. Do not forget to include your contact details in your blog. Allow people to leave a comment and once you receive one, reply as soon as you can. Make your blog as informative as possible.

Print out your very own business card featuring your day care center. Business cards can be easily created using your computer or with the help of the internet. Print it out and give it to acquaintances. Give more than one card to your close friends and ask them to pass it on. You can also leave these cards in places like restaurants, public libraries, or pass it on to people in church.

Post leaflets, posters and banners about your day care center. Produce appealing and creative ones so you are sure to attract people's attention. Make them colorful and bold. You can stand in the corner of a busy road and give it to people passing by. You can ask for other friends to help you do this. Remember to post banners only where you are allowed to.

Advertising is a great way of introducing your day care center to people around. It is the best way of making your day care center known and selling it as well. It does not need to be expensive, use your creativity and you would find yourself spending only a few dollars for advertisements. Go give it a try; advertising can help your day care center go from the ground up!

What a Cleaning Business can do for you
« Result #6 on Dec 4, 2009, 9:25pm »
[Quote]

Most families nowadays don’t have that much time to do thorough a cleaning of the house due to hectic schedules and appointments from both work and the children. Almost everything nowadays has grown so demanding it’s a miracle we can actually get everything done the way it’s supposed to be done. The general populace can’t afford to have an in-house staff to help take care of the household chores such as cleaning, laundry and cooking. This may be from a married couple having both office jobs during the day, their children and perhaps an elderly or handicapped person with them.

Contracting a cleaning business to do the job for a middle income family can mean a weekend of rest and relaxation, and perhaps some quality time with the kids. To an elderly couple or a handicapped individual it could mean reprieve from soreness and backaches or perhaps the only solution to get certain chores done.

A cleaning business essentially offers a maid service. They take care of the dusting, vacuuming, mopping, polishing and taking out the trash. They are equipped with a trained and experienced staff to handle these jobs thoroughly, quickly and efficiently. It doesn’t really require that much skill out of a person but there are certain qualities which will give comfort and peace of mind to the clients. Attributes which are most appreciated are the thoroughness and diligence in doing their work. Having the patience to move everything about and clean every nook and cranny there is in the house.

Some of those in the cleaning business usually offer a wide range of additional services, such as rug and carpet cleaning, this service handles the taking out of stains left by juices, drinks, foods, and pets among some. Improper procedures may cause irreversible damage. That is why most people prefer to call or contract professionals for this. Others may offer leather or upholstery treatment for chairs and sofas, stain removal and taking away of hairs and odors left by pets. Extra services may also include application of fire repellants or retardants over some surfaces of your furniture and curtains.

Some cleaning businesses may specialize in residential or small office areas, some may take in commercial establishments, and sometimes may carry both services. Residential or small areas will in most cases only require maid services and a few add-ons. They usually operate during normal office hours of the day. Those that service commercial establishments have a janitorial service, which is mainly a maid service that carries a much larger scope of work. They often operate when there’s not too much traffic in the establishment so as not to get in the way to the workers and at most times at night. They are cover establishments like offices, restaurants, hotels, banks, bowling alleys, theaters, shopping malls, museums and theme parks, just to name a few. It is usually a preference for most commercial establishments to contract such services because it usually comes out as a less costly alternative and is more efficient.

The Benefits of Starting Your Own DayCare Center

If you want a home based job or you simply want to run your own business, the child day care industry is perfect for you. Proven by many, it is a very luxurious way of getting a good income. The market is increasing year by year as both parents work to cope up with the need of more money for ongoing family expenses. Like any other business, the day care industry can generate money for the care providers. But do you know that there is more to the monetary nature of this kind of industry? There are other rewards that are awaiting day care owners and care providers like you.

Think about working with children who would give you a sincere hug now and then and even tell you that they love you! This is one of the greatest rewards one can get from a day care center, being appreciated by the little people you work for. Teachers usually receive small gifts from parents to show how grateful they are for your efforts of taking care of their own children. Imagine how much load you have lifted from these parents back just by looking after their kids while they work. Isn't it worthwhile to know that you are touching the lives of others who in return make a difference in your life too?

Try to interview teachers who have been working with kids for a long period of time now. Would there be a difference between what they would tell you and what people who work in the office would say? There is a big difference. Care providers would testify that working with kids lightens up burdens in life. Being with the presence of a child creates a happy and light environment. Having a healthy working environment is reason enough to pursue this kind of career. You don't have to deal with a nagging boss and grumpy colleagues talking behind your back. The sincerity of the children you are with every day simply turns you into a jolly person as well. The kids can be a headache sometimes but when they come to you with their heartfelt sorry, all traces of anger seem to just vanish at an instant.

While working with children, you get to develop skills unknowingly. You become more patient, temperate, and humble. You learn the art of taking care of little ones. You hone methods of teaching which are not taught at university. You get to do things that you did not know before and at the end you get appreciated by those around you.

Since a day care center is considered as small scale, you get the feel of the basics of running a business. If some day you want to venture into a bigger business, you already have an idea of what you have to do, from licensing to advertising your business. A day care center can be a learning curve for you.

It is true that a day care center business could be a source of large streaming amount of cash. Forget the cash for a minute and you would realize that there is more to money making in this kind of industry.

What a Cleaning Business is all about
« Result #8 on Nov 26, 2009, 8:28pm »
[Quote]

A cleaning business is about offering services of dusting, vacuuming and polishing among some to certain individuals who may not either have the time, patience or ability to do so.

A cleaning business is made up of two main markets which are residential and commercial. It’s a business which takes only a little start up capital and can be situated in your own home. The market is vast. A reason for this maybe due to the fact that a large segment of married households are both holding office jobs, thereby giving them less and less time to tend to the house. Averaging at least twelve hours a day each including travel leaves barely a few hours for the children when they get home and hardly enough time to do the household chores.

You would want to target a middle income family with these situations as your niche market. If your neighborhood comprises a lot of these households you may not need to travel far to land your contracts. Let’s take a look at each service in depth.

A residential cleaning business’ main offering is a maid service. It requires hardworking individuals who have to be thorough in their work. It also takes very little skill and know how so it should be quite easy to find a good working staff. Other aspects you will want your staff to have is that they should not be clumsy, so as to have their head in their work and be relied upon not to steal the things while they are servicing somebody’s house. If they can go on without much or little supervision, this will allow you to be able to schedule several clients at the same time, thereby increasing your output.

Commercial cleaning services are usually janitorial services, which is quite similar to maid services but tackles a much greater scope and variety of work. Your clientele for this may be restaurants, banks, hotels, offices, shopping malls, bowling alleys, theaters and other public centers.

So the first thing you should do is plan out your business. You will need to create a policy on how you will run your operations. You should device a rate system for the different tasks which you offer, assigning particular rates of labor to specific jobs. A suggestion is that you present a basic package consisting of typical tasks to be done in a general household. This may include dusting, vacuuming and polishing of floors and usual pieces of furniture, you can package the most common rooms, perhaps a couple of bedrooms with bathrooms, the family room and kitchen. For an additional room like a music room or a den, you can line that up in your task list as an add–on at a specific rate, maybe based on a per square foot area. You can also charge for removal of stains from the sofa and deodorizing areas inhabited by household pets. You must list this down on a job order form so that you and your client may tally you’re your job completion. They can check everything down on your checklist. This serves as your contract between you and your customer.

The Advantages of Starting a Day Care Center
« Result #9 on Nov 23, 2009, 6:57am »
[Quote]

Well said and proven, the day care industry is a lucrative business providing a generous income to its owners. The market for this kind of business increases yearly as both parents work to help financially to ongoing family expenses. But aside from the financial benefit this industry can offer, there are some rewards awaiting day care center owners and care providers.

The first reward that you can actually reap from owning a childcare service is your work being appreciated by both the parents and the children. Even a simple “Thank you” from the mouth of a kid can brighten up your day. How much more if they hug you and tell you that you are the best nanny they ever had? The feeling of helping mothers by taking care of their kids is also gratifying. A lot of times, parents would hand you a small gift to show how grateful they are for what you are doing. Isn’t it worthwhile to know that you are touching lives of other people and making a significant difference?

In addition, many child care workers testify that working with kids can lessen burdens in life. Being with a child all day can make you a happy and jolly person. Working in a happy environment is enough reason to pursue this kind of career. Just compare having to work in an office where you have to deal with grumpy people and irate boss with working with jolly kids. You don’t have to deal with people talking behind your back. As a matter of fact, children would always be honest to you and tell you how they feel. Day care center work beats office work. Children may sometimes be hard to handle. They are usually gullible and noisy at their stage. But at the end of each day, they will come to you with their warm and heartfelt hugs and kisses.

Unknowingly, you develop skills while working as a day care service provider. If you are a mother, you learn the tricks and art of taking care of children. You learn to control your temper and sometimes to humble yourself so others can feel happy. You learn to do things you have never done before and get the reward of a feeling of accomplishment every end of the day.

Getting to run your own day care business can also give you a feel of how other markets are being managed. You get to know legal matters about setting up a business. This would include requirements, licensing and rules behind setting up a business. From a small business of a day care center, you can then pursue to a bigger business basing on your experiences running your day care.

Try to ask people who worked or are working as a day care service provider. You would hear various stories of triumph and joy. They would tell you how working as a care provider changed their lives. You would be surprised that it is not just a matter of having a large streaming amount of cash coming in out of this business; there is more to the monetary nature of a day care center.

 Why Start a Cleaning Business
« Result #10 on Nov 22, 2009, 8:39pm »
[Quote]

A cleaning business is a very profitable business. It doesn’t require much start up capitalization, it doesn’t require that much skill to learn, it operates during normal hours of the day and it can either be operated on a full-time or part-time basis. It is a niche business that has a very lucrative and wide clientele base. The turn around of profitability is fast and because of its flexibility, it gives a particularly strong appeal to a wide range of clientele with an assortment of tasks.

If we really get down to it, the most direct answer to our title is, everybody needs their places to be cleaned. Whether it be an apartment, a house, an office or an entire coliseum, somebody has to do the cleaning. If you do a little research you will find out how surprisingly huge the return of investment is in a cleaning business. In the first place, you won’t even have to invest that much.

You can primarily start with offering maid services. You can easily get a lot of workers for this opening, who are very dedicated and thorough. The market for this is sustainable enough that as long as you offer and accomplish good services you will have no trouble finding the contracts to do. If you feel that you need a more personal approach with the business for starters, you can begin the business by doing the cleaning yourself. With all the modern equipment in house cleaning nowadays, cleaning is not really much of a chore anymore.

As a matter of fact, a lot of cleaning businesses have started off with a more personalized touch. You just have to narrow down the type of cleaning service that you offer, while you’re still working for the means to come up with more human resources, utilize what is readily there and what’s readily there is, you. You can start with simple house cleaning, which wouldn’t be that much difficult since most of us have been trained to clean our rooms and houses anyway. We must always remember though, that we should clean like we’re cleaning our own place. From there, you can elevate according to the amount of effort and quality you put in your service. Once you make one client happy, the rule of thumb is, you get a free advertisement with testimonies. After that, work will just fall in line for you.

Once your client base has increased so may also offer additional services to go along side your basic package such as carpet and upholstery cleaning, wall cleaning and pool services for residential customers or small businesses. If you wish to expand into janitorial services you can also do so with not much trouble. It just requires a little additional know how and training on how to use certain cleaning solutions and processes. It may also need a bit more of investment on equipment, but other than that it just uses the same system you would have for a smaller scale market.
